One day Alla Prima portrait painting workshop: September 14, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Learn to paint the portrait from photo reference starting with a basic line drawing. Participants will have a full day learning the method and technique for the alla prima portrait. Working alongside Erin in her studio in Bethlehem, PA, the day will start with a brief introduction and demonstration. Participants will then get the opportunity to spend the majority of the day painting their portraits with guidance from Ms. Anderson.
Materials provided include vellum, substrate, reference image, easels, and mahl sticks. Vasari has generously sponsored oil paints for participants to use during the workshop. Participants are still encouraged to bring oils of their own in the event there is a specific color they would like to use that may not be included. Participants are also asked to bring brushes, palette and palette knife. A more detailed materials list will be emailed. The day will start at 10 a.m. with coffee and light breakfast provided. Introduction and demonstration will begin at 10:30 until the break for lunch at approximately 12 p.m. At 1 p.m. participants will set up their easel stations and begin their alla prima. Participants will have time to paint and access to private instruction from 1 until 6 p.m.
The workshop tuition is $250 and reservations are very limited. Bethlehem is located approximately an hour and twenty minutes from New York city and approximately an hour and a half from Philadelphia. Please direct any questions to erin@erinandersonstudio.com
